Chrome Extension Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the ImageTranslate AI Chrome Extension ("the Extension"). It supplements the ImageTranslate AI Privacy Policy, which governs the imagetranslate.ai service as a whole.

1. What the Extension Does

The Extension lets you translate text inside images on any webpage: right-click an image and choose "Translate this image". The translated image is displayed in place of the original on the page.

2. Data the Extension Processes

Image data

When you explicitly request a translation (via the right-click menu), the Extension sends the URL of the selected image and the address of the page it appears on to our servers at imagetranslate.ai. Our servers download the image (the page address is reduced to its origin and sent to the image's host as a standard Referer header so the download succeeds), translate the text it contains, and return the translated image. Images are processed solely to provide the translation you requested.

The Extension does not scan, collect, or transmit anything from pages you visit before you act. Only after you choose "Translate this image" does it look up that specific image on the current page in order to display the result.

Translation records

Each translation request creates a record on our servers containing the image URL, the translated result, your selected languages/mode/model, any custom prompt you provided, and — for rate-limiting and abuse prevention — your IP address. For signed-in users these records appear in your account's translation history. For anonymous users, records are retained for service operation (daily free-limit enforcement and abuse prevention) and are not publicly accessible. Authentication

If you are signed in to imagetranslate.ai in your browser, the Extension uses your existing session cookie to identify your account, so translations can use your credits and appear in your translation history. The Extension never sees or stores your password. If you are not signed in, translations are processed anonymously subject to a daily free limit.

Settings

Your preferences (source/target language, translation mode, model, custom prompt) are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's extension storage. They are sent to our servers only as parameters of translation requests you initiate.

What we do NOT collect

• No browsing history. The Extension does not track, record, or transmit the pages you visit.
• No page content other than the specific image you right-click and its page address (used to fetch the image and to attribute the request).
• No keystrokes, form data, or personal files.
• No data is sold or shared with third parties for advertising.

3. How Translation Requests Are Processed

Translation requests are handled by the same infrastructure as the imagetranslate.ai website. Translated images and translation records are stored in your account history (for signed-in users) exactly as if you had used the website uploader.
